Quick start guide to Moodle 📑

We are using Moodle as our online learning platform. If you are completely new to Moodle and you want to know a bit more about it, their quick guide (opens in a new tab) explains the functionality. There is also a list of keyboard shortcuts.

1. Access a course 🚪

Most of our courses have a paywall and are designed for members of Homeless Network Scotland. First check you have purchased a course through the website, then check for joining instructions in the email you signed up with.   

 

2. Language translations 🌎

Courses are currently available in English. To translate the content you can use Google website translation.   

 

3. Update your learner bio (opens in a new tab) 📷

In the user details section, select edit profile. 

You can upload a photo of yourself, a pet, or your organisational logo if you wish to, or leave it empty. 

You can also share your pronouns or a phonetic pronunciation of your name if you want to, your work location and anything else you want to share with people taking the course.

If you wish to remain anonymous to fellow learners you can choose a name of your choice (like Google's Anonymous Animals). 

 

4. Change your password 🔑

Navigate to the user profile page as described above and select change password. Enter a new password.

Or open the lost password link (opens in a new tab), enter your email address and you will be sent an email from hello@homelessnetwork.scot to reset it (check your junk folder or other if it doesn't arrive).

 

5. Save a page as a PDF or print 🖨

Use keyboard shortcuts Ctrl +P (windows) or Command + P to print a page as a PDF or on paper.

 

6. Use the mobile app 📲

 To access the course on a mobile app download the Moodle app for Android or iPhone (opens in a new tab) and login to learn.homelessnetwork.scot.
