We want Homeless Network Scotland’s learning experiences to be as accessible as possible.

We are working towards compliance with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) as part of the Web Accessibility Initiative.

Accessing content 🚪

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this learning platform. You should be able to:

  • navigate and access content with any screen size from a mobile, tablet or desktop

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your own browser

  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen

  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard

  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software

  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

AbilityNet (opens in a new tab) has advice on making your device easier to use, including how to change fonts in internet browsers.

Known accessibility challenges 🚧

We use the platform Moodle. It has a list of accessibility issues (opens in a new tab) and fixes they are currently working on.

We also use Ispring to create interactive slides within the learning platform. Some of the animations include movement which could cause motion sickness.

The slides have an accessibility mode with plain text and no images or movement. This is signified by the glasses icon🕶. Ideally, we would provide the same experience to everyone.

Adjustments, feedback, tech help and suggestions 💌

If you would like to request an alternative format or accessibility adjustment, for example, but not limited to an introductory session with a team member explaining the platform, installing a specific accessibility plugin, sending printed copies, or requesting easy read materials, please chat to a member of the team and we would be happy to see what works best.
